Classes for grades 4-6 classes are taught either on school sites or non-government facilities. Shareholders here are the youth and their families, their schools, community leaders, and instructors of the dances taught. In this program, partner dances are chosen and taught in accordance with the demographics of the region.
Format:
10 weeks of instruction. Minimum 2 hrs/week.
2 week period of friendly competition.
4-5 cultural dances taught
This program is topped off with 2 weeks of showcases and friendly competition.
Total program duration: 12 weeks
This program is the first tier for direct access to school systems as a community partner.
The dances taught varies according to the community demographics. Typically 4 or 5 social/cultural dances are taught for a 10 week period followed by a friendly showcase or competition in a within 2 week afterwards. Total duration of the program is 12 weeks. In largely hispanic communities the latin dances such as merengue, rumba, cha-cha are taught. In largely afro-american communities the various "hand-dances" are taught.
Engaging community members and officials, this program draws the highest potential for public appeal.
